Don't wear gloves while using machinery

Safety rule: do not wear cloth or leather gloves of any kind when using any machinery like saws, drills, sanders, or anything that spins or cuts with a moving blade. Also be aware of jewelry and long sleeves that could get caught in the spinning parts and pull you in. Wearing rings and bracelets is dangerous in the shop and should be removed before you go to work.

Wear gloves when handling materials like boards or steel stock. That will keep you from getting splinters or abrasions. Wear welding gloves only while you are welding, they are not appropriate for other tasks.

Wear rubber or poly gloves when using paint or oils.
